History and character
Th. Hirilandhoo is an island in Thaa Atoll (Kolhumadulu), about 220 km south of Malé.
It is an industrial fish-processing island, with 15 plots leased for fish-product processing such as vacuum-dried fish. About 95 percent of residents work in industrial activity.
Land is scarce: more than 200 applications were received for the last remaining plots.
